Artful Eye Photography | About

Real. Honest. Beautifully you. When I was in elementary school, my dad gave me his old SLR camera and a  subscription to National Geographic. My passion for photography was born! To capture a moment in time, to tell a story through images,  to portray a sense of connection, and to show real emotion, is the essence of beautiful photography.  I have been blessed to turn my passion into my profession and I absolutely LOVE what I do. Studying the art of photography throughout my schooling and continuing on today with seminars and workshops, my passion continues to grow. Whatever the moment may be, I love to tell your story!

I'm Karen and I'm married to the love of my life Matt! We are proud parents of our sweet little boy, Briggs, and of course our little fur baby girl, Lucy! My photo studio is located at the beautiful Freehands Farm in Ashland, Wisconsin. I love natural light photography. I love all types of subject matter. I love the journey of life. I love the story of love. I may be the photographer for you if you want real images of yourself and the love in your life, children, extended family and/or pets! I may be the photographer for you if you know that there is a difference between owning a nice camera and being a professional photographer. I may be the photographer for you if you plan to treasure your images by displaying them in your home as fine art or in a gorgeous album. During a kids/family session, be prepared to PLAY, LAUGH and LOVE! I think having fun together is a great way to capture who you are. Let's run around the farm. Let's go to the park. Or let's go for a walk in the woods! If a wedding photographer is what you're searching for, I love to tell the story of your special day through artistic, beautiful images that portray who you are as a couple, documenting the details and capturing the love of family/friends that are a part of your wedding day. Expecting a new bundle of joy? Newborn sessions take place in studio or in your home, with safety and comfort a number one priority while photographing the most beautiful images of life's biggest miracle.

A few years back I realized that another angle of view, another set of hands and another creative, artistic eye would be very nice to have, so fellow professional photographer and friend Lindsey Stadler joined me at Artful Eye. We typically shoot everything together, and we have been known to have a lot of fun and a few laughs in the process! Her story is below. Thanks for reading, and any questions feel free to contact me!
